The Anacostia String Quartet is a versatile ensemble that regularly performs both new and old music for diverse audiences across the DMV. In 2018, the quartet served as the Ensemble-In-Residence for the inaugural season of the District New Music Coalition (DNMC), performing all contemporary works at venues ranging from breweries to churches. The quartet was twice selected from over 40 chamber groups at the University of Maryland School of Music to perform on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, as well as at the 2017 Spotlight concert at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland. The quartet recently completed a partnership with the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), performing works commissioned for their conference, The Effects of Climate Change on the World's Oceans (ECCWO), in DC in June of 2018. This partnership continued with a recording of two quartets commissioned by PICES to be completed in the fall of 2018. The quartet has worked closely with the Jerusalem and Left Bank Quartets, and has appeared alongside members of the Australian, Attacca, Omer, and Pacifica Quartets.
